1. Introduction
- [Instructor] We'd like to talk to you today, so I said, about Joint Interpretation of Magnetic Resonance and Resistivity. The framework for petrophysical evaluation. The motivation for this is basically we have increasingly complex terminology these days, which we put a lot of effort into analysing, acquiring, processing each of these individual technologies and of course, an integrated interpretation. Integrating these new technologies with older technology, everything together is what is required to really understand the most from your reservoir. Many cases have been published in the literature about specific examples of integrating different technologies. We were looking, ourselves, at compiling, reviewing many of the different approaches. The reasons why resistivity sometimes read the same, sometimes different from NMR. So as we're reviewing ourselves, well why not publish a paper and hence we have this framework for combined NMR Resistivity data and in fact we'll touch on combining with some other logs right at the end as well. So as an outline I'll start off by giving a bit of background theory on NMR, Resistivity, what effects them, and the combinations. Then my colleague, Holger, will take over and talk a bit about some log examples with some discussion at the end. NMR, of course, looks primarily in sort of a volumetric way at all the fluids within the pore spaces. Resistivity is relying more on seeing the conductive fluids and in a way you get the hydrocarbons by defaulters, the bit that's missing.
